Prince William and Prince Harry used to be close, and when the younger brother wrote his explosive memoir, Spare, he was obviously in a contemplative state.
During his recent charitable tour to the UK, Harry gave Children in Need a sizable portion of his personal funds before finding time for afternoon tea with his father, King Charles.
Unfortunately, it appears that Harry’s crowded diary prevented a reunion with Prince William, and during his remarks at last week’s state dinner, Donald Trump even appeared to make fun of Harry.
Together with their two kids, Archie and Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle currently reside in the United States.
Harry previously recalled a significant time between him and William when he informed his brother that he was expecting his first kid, Archie, even if their relationship doesn’t seem to be improving.
Harry describes in his book Spare how Meghan was thrilled to learn she was expecting Archie and how eager the pair was to tell the Prince and Princess of Wales.
In October 2018, while attending their cousin Princess Eugenie’s wedding, they made the decision to inform William and Kate.
He wrote: “Euge was getting married to Jack, and we were deliriously happy for her, and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favourite people.”
Harry added: “Meg and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding.”
“Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news,” he explained of their logic.
He continued: “After the drinks reception, in St George’s Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside.”
Admitting it was something of a ‘strange moment’, Harry added: “We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said ‘we must tell Kate’.”
“She was across the room, talking to Pippa, I said we could do it later, but he insisted.
“So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I’d hoped,” he revealed.
He also wrote that he was “delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time” after telling his father about their news.
Harry has stated in a recent interview that his “conscience is clear” following the publication of the book, even though the family shares such intimate moments.
He maintains that he is not guilty of revealing “dirty laundry in public,” despite several accusations to the contrary.
He told the Guardian: “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public, it was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.
“I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”
