Prince Harry has now been formally excluded from the royal line of succession.
Additionally, reports suggest that once Prince William ascends to the throne after King Charles, both Harry and Meghan Markle will lose their royal titles.
A Deepening Royal Rift
An insider has claimed that Prince William is preparing to take decisive steps to distance his estranged brother and sister-in-law from the royal legacy.
“William intends to assert his authority and erase both Harry and Meghan from the royal narrative,” the source stated, describing Meghan as “power-hungry” and Harry as “wayward.”
There are ongoing, though unofficial, discussions within palace circles about removing the couple’s royal titles. While an act of Parliament is required for such a move to become official, rumors suggest that confidential talks between royal aides and government figures have already begun.
Since stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California, Harry and Meghan have continued to strain their relationship with the royal family.
Public revelations such as Harry’s memoir Spare, his widely watched interview with Oprah Winfrey, and other media appearances have only worsened the divide.
Tensions reached new heights when a UK court ruled that Prince Harry would no longer receive publicly funded security during his visits to Britain.
Though he remains fifth in line to the throne — after Prince William and his children — his role and connection to the monarchy have been steadily diminishing.
Following the court’s decision, Harry gave another interview, once again criticizing his family. He revealed that his father, King Charles, had stopped speaking to him amid the ongoing legal disputes.
He described his loss in the case as “devastating,” particularly because of who made the decision and how it was handled.
Harry said, “I can’t imagine bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” expressing disappointment in what he called a “classic establishment cover-up.”
He added, “It’s not just about the ruling, it’s about the people who think this is acceptable. Is this a win for them?”
Still, he acknowledged his desire to repair family ties, particularly in light of King Charles’s declining health. The King was diagnosed with can:cer in February 2024.
“I want to reconcile with my family,” Harry said. “There’s no sense in continuing to fight. Life is too short.”
William Now Holds the Power to Decide
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams criticized Harry’s latest interview, stating that it only worsened the already fragile relationship between the brothers.
“The interview was a misstep,” Fitzwilliams said. “The royal family fears the Sussexes might keep turning to the media. If Harry really wants peace, it should happen privately.”
Following Harry and Meghan’s decision to withdraw from royal duties, it’s believed that King Charles has given Prince William the authority to reshape the monarchy for the future.
According to a palace insider, “From William’s point of view, Harry made his choice. He’s living in the U.S. and clearly doesn’t intend to return to royal life. At this point, William won’t consider keeping Harry in the line of succession — and he’s ready to take permanent steps to make that happen.”
