Every day, new incredible songs are released, yet the classics remain unrivaled. Old vintage tunes have a unique ability to communicate to the heart. I’m not trying to disparage new songs or musicians, but I’d rather listen to old songs than new ones any day.
One of these old favorites can be seen in the video below. “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” has been covered by everyone from Earth Kitt to the legendary Frank Sinatra, but The Platters’ rendition is one of the most well-known in the world. Otto Harbach and Jerome Kern wrote the original tune. The Platters’ performance of the song topped the charts in the United Kingdom, USA, and Australia, and went on to become a number-one hit in 1958.
