The Magic Glass of Water
A woman walked into a doctor’s office looking completely worn out.
“Doctor,” she sighed, “I really need help. My husband has the worst temper. He gets angry over the smallest things… and when he does, it’s like living with a storm. I never know what will set him off.”
The doctor nodded, listening carefully.
“Alright,” he said after a moment, reaching for a small bottle of water.
“I want you to try something simple. The next time your husband starts to lose his temper, pour yourself a glass of this water. Take a mouthful… and don’t swallow it.”
The woman blinked.
“…Don’t swallow it?”
“Exactly,” the doctor said calmly.
“Just hold it in your mouth until he either calms down or leaves the room.”
It sounded strange.
But she was desperate enough to try anything.
Two weeks later, she came back — this time smiling.
“Doctor, I don’t know how to thank you!” she said excitedly.
“I did exactly what you told me. Every time he started getting angry, I held the water in my mouth… and somehow, it worked! He barely loses his temper anymore. It’s like a miracle!”
The doctor smiled knowingly.
“My dear,” he said gently,
“the water has nothing to do with it.”
She paused.
“It’s just that… you didn’t open your mouth.”
