During my annual check-up, I asked, “Doctor, how do you determine if an elderly patient needs to be placed in a care home?”
The doctor replied, “Well, we perform a simple test. We fill up a bathtub to the brim, and then we offer the patient a teaspoon, a teacup, and a bucket, and ask them to empty the tub.”
“Oh, I get it!” I smiled intelligently. “A normal person would choose the bucket because it’s much bigger than the cup or spoon.”
The doctor stared at me in silence for a moment, then sighed. “No… a normal person would just pull the plug. So, would you prefer a bed near the window?”
