The boss was complaining during a staff meeting that his employees just weren’t giving him the respect he deserved.
“I’m the boss!” he grumbled. “They should know who’s in charge around here!”
Apparently, the employees needed a little reminder.
So the very next morning, the boss arrived at the office with a small sign that proudly read:
“I’M THE BOSS!”
He marched into his office, taped the sign proudly to the door, and walked away feeling ten feet tall.
For the rest of the morning, he seemed unusually confident.
Then he went out for lunch.
When he returned, he noticed something taped underneath his precious sign.
It was a small note.
He read it.
His confidence disappeared instantly.
The note said:
“Your wife called. She wants her sign back.”
Suddenly, everyone in the office remembered exactly who was really in charge.
