Sofia, our 49-year-old reader, recently sent us a very emotional letter that sounded like a genuine plea for assistance. Others are harshly judging the mom for offering her pregnant daughter-in-law free babysitting services. Sofia believes this offer was not offensive or inappropriate, but her daughter-in-law disagrees. Here’s the complete story of their tricky struggle, which is about to turn into a true disaster for everyone in the family.
Sofia asked for an outside opinion.
Sofia, a 49-year-old reader, recently sent us a really honest and genuine letter. The woman is currently facing a very conflicting circumstance in her family. But, as she said, she’s desperate to solve this complex family case because many people she’s asked for guidance have harshly judged her.
Sofia asked us to publish her tale, and the woman stated that she is prepared to face any criticism from our readers, but she also expects to receive some support and guidance from our audience. The woman began her letter by adding, “This is my first letter to you, and I hope to receive some excellent advice and opinions from your readers.” I’m also writing to vent, as the current situation in my family has made me enraged.”
“So, I have a kid named Mark, who is 30.I spent the happiest years of my life raising him and teaching him everything important in life. I taught him how to make money and succeed in life, and I provided him with a fantastic education and numerous wonderful possibilities.
Mark is married to Chloe, 25, and she is the reason my heart hasn’t been at ease lately. And it’s not due to the classic maternal jealousy’, which I don’t have. It’s all due to Chloe’s consumer attitude toward everything relating to our family and the privileges she acquired ‘by default’ after marrying my son.”
Sofia described the core of the conflict with her DIL, Chloe.
Sofia continues with her letter, noting, “I also have a daughter, Joanna, who is 25, just like Chloe.” Joanna is a fantastic mother to three amazing and adorable children, my grandchildren. They are two, three, and five years old, and Joanna is parenting them alone. She doesn’t rely on child support and has a well-paying remote work that allows her to live a nice life and provide all her children’s desires and need.”
“The difficulty is that Joanna is unable to find a suitable nanny for her beautiful children. So Joanna is currently having difficulty finding someone who is smart, competent, and decent enough to meet all of her requirements for a babysitter. For the time being, she is torn between children and work, and I help her a lot with the children, but I am tired of the continual rush and bustle in my life.”
“My daughter-in-law is five months pregnant and moved in with us four months ago. My son, her spouse, lives in another nation. Despite her high-risk pregnancy, I want her to do something for our family to repay us for our hospitality.
I urge that she babysit her SIL’s three children for free and that she do it for the sake of her own future pregnancy. I am confident that Chloe’s babysitting expertise will greatly assist her in properly caring for her own child. However, in response to my obvious goals, Chloe reacted in a terrible and cruel manner.”
Chloe is not in awe about her MIL’s suggestion and she spoke out about it openly.
Sofia writes, “When I told Chloe about my concept, which is a win-win for everyone, she immediately transformed into a true monster. She stated that Joanna is accountable for her children and must eventually find a nanny for them. She completely ignored her difficult circumstances and her misgivings about having other people babysit her gorgeous children.”
“When I mentioned to Chloe that she was had been living in our house for free for more than 4 months, she said that this was our courtesy and that she wasn’t expected to pay for other people’s good intentions. I must say that we did suggest Chloe to move in with us, while Mark had to move to the UK to work on his major building project. I personally asked her to be our guest, because I wanted to make sure she doesn’t feel lonely, and Mark asked me to accept Chloe in our home because it was important for him personally.”
“However, Chloe’s violent reaction to my offer crushed me. She also remarked that Joanna’s children had different fathers, which was none of her business and had nothing to do with the fundamental problem.”
Sofia made a very tough decision about her DIL.
Sofia writes, “When Chloe refused to assist her SIL with the babies, I asked her to either pay us rent or move out right away. On the same day, this impudent woman called Mark and complained that we were basically tossing her away for no reason. She was crying while speaking on the phone with my son, but I know her tears were phony.”
“Mark called and began preaching to me that Joanna and I intended to exploit his pregnant wife.” He rejected all of my concerns regarding his wife’s refusal to contribute to his family, which is now also hers. He said he’d give money to Chloe, and she’d rent an apartment on her own, but I don’t want to have conflicts with my son.”
“I even addressed Chloe, apologized, and requested her to stay, but now she refuses to listen to me and appears insulted. What should I do in this completely ludicrous situation? I’m sure my DIL is manipulating my feelings for my son. I am desperate.”
