A picture of an elderly couple who have been married for 77 years has recently surfaced. They are holding hands in bed and they are only hours away from passing from the scene. Now that the picture is out there, it is going viral and many people are considering it to be the definition of true love.
The photo was shared by somebody on Reddit who claims to be the granddaughter of the loving couple.
The post read “My Grandma 96, with my Grandpa, 100, hours before her death this weekend. 77 years of marriage.
I know they are my grandparents.
But this picture is seriously the saddest and cutest thing I’ve ever seen”.
Many people have stepped forward to say something about the emotional image that they were taking in.
They saw the picture and then said that they were even making changes in their life.
This includes one user who said that he made up with his wife after he saw the picture.
“Tonight we argued. It was the usual suspects: money, long hours working, who cares less about who’s feelings, I grabbed a blanket and headed for the lounge- after 24 years of marriage you kinda figure out that the sofa, the pooch for company and the evening apart from each other is a good way to cool hot heads.
Then I read this post, I put the kettle on, made my wife a cup of tea and woke her up, held her hand and told her that I love her. ”
NWBoomer added: “when we were a young couple we often stated that we wanted to grow old together. A not uncommon sentiment between a couple when you are young as you think your youth and beauty will last forever. This image is what it truly means to grow old together.”
There were also a lot of sympathetic comments that had something kind to say to the granddaughter.
This included one user who said “Sorry for your loss.
But what a ‘great’ way to go. Holding hands with your spouse, in a warm bed, presumably with loved ones around.
Sympathy to your Grandfather who lost his lifelong wife. God bless all around.
You might also be surprised that not all comments were positive.
It is difficult to imagine that some people would have something hateful to say but they did come out of the woodwork for a moment.
This is a moment that will be remembered for a very long time.
It shows that true love still exists and it is possible to have it in our lives. When we treat each other with kindness and respect, we can live this life for now and forever.
