Signs That You Don’t Respect Yourself And Others Are Taking Advantage Of It
What are the signs that maybe you do not respect yourself, see in the following lines.
1. Saving money for others
Sometimes, even too often at times, we have to give up something for ourselves so that there is more for others. We do it to us to please a loved one or friend, relative. A lovely gesture, but others quickly see when we often sacrifice our own needs and take advantage of our kindness.
2. You do not love your body
This is a lack of not only respect, but also love for yourself. This manifests itself in constant self-criticism in front of an intimate partner, colleagues, acquaintances, low self-esteem, vulnerability.
3. You have a hard time expressing your own opinion
Maybe because you are uncomfortable, you don’t want to be perceived as ill-mannered. Or you are worried about refusing something, so as not to create a conflict situation at work, family, with relatives and friends. The inability and fear to remain silent is a lack of respect for ourselves. We become the perfect target for manipulators.
4. You don’t trust your judgment and are constantly looking for advice
Being unsure, hesitating helps, but only sometimes. However, when the line is crossed and there is too much self-criticism and fear of failure, it puts us at risk of someone advising and steering us in the wrong direction or taking advantage of us in some way.
5. You try not to give up on others and always want to be counted on
The inability to give up in time is directly related to the inner need to attract the approval of others. Of course, the reason for this lies in our childhood. The little kid who tries to get the love of others if he does everything he’s told. Again, this is a lack of self-respect and an opportunity for others to abuse your responsiveness.
6. Suffering blatant disrespect
It could be from co-workers, your boss, relatives, romantic partner, stranger, etc. There is probably no one who has not experienced someone’s disrespect in one form or another. But a person who does not respect himself, who has complexes, is usually ready to live in situations of bad treatment.
7. You are often at the expense of your own interests
When was the last time you did something nice for yourself without feeling guilty? We often violate our own interests by doing sports, acquiring new knowledge, indulging in time for ourselves, etc. at the expense of others. Is every sacrifice we make for the sake of others worth it and so important? This is how we set an example to our children, as people who do not respect themselves.
