A young nun approached the Mother Superior one morning with a troubled expression.
“Mother,” she said softly, “last night I had a dream. In it, I married a handsome billionaire. We lived in a beautiful mansion, traveled the world, and never worried about money again.”
She lowered her eyes.
“Does that mean I’ve committed the sin of greed?”
The Mother Superior smiled kindly and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“My dear child, a dream is only a dream. You haven’t sinned by having one.”
The young nun let out a relieved sigh.
“Oh, thank goodness!”
The Mother Superior nodded.
“Of course, if you happen to see this billionaire again tonight…”
The nun looked up hopefully.
“…ask whether he accepts tax-deductible donations.”
The young nun blinked.
The Mother Superior continued:
“Our convent still needs a new roof, a renovated chapel, and plumbing that was last updated sometime during the reign of Moses.”
